Yeah it's a little trickier than most places I think. Not as easy to walk into a store and buy new stuff. That said, there's a strong summer carnival circuit here and Tasmania has produced some quality riders, so there is stuff out there if you search. The LBS crew are usually friendly and happy to help too!

Nice blog. congrats on your first race. sorry about the drop. I did my first race back in July FBF, and got dropped too. Pedalled balls to the wall for about 25 secs and got back on. granted its a completely flat course so it was perhaps a bit easier, and I didn't have to deal with a crash.
